Is this normal hamster behavior?

I've my hamster for litle over a week now. I got him from a pet store. he seems content with his life with me :P I think he's starting to get use to me, but he stares at me, like I have his attention, but he doesn't like when I handle him, or touch him. Also, he sniffs me, then sometimes attempts to nibble at my finges, whether I've just washed my hands or not. Is my hamster okay? Okay with me? Is this a good sign, or bad?
